Border checks at the land borders were abolished at midnight from 20 to 21 December 2007. At the international airports, border checks on intra-Schengen flights came to an end on 30 March 2008.
According to Schengen rules, third-country nationals who are not subject to the EU visa obligation may stay on the Schengen territory without a visa for up to 3 months during a 6-month period starting on the first day of their entry into the Schengen area. The date of entry into the Schengen area is indicated on entry stamp in the passport; similarly, passport is stamped also when leaving the Schengen territory. |
