The Czech Republic will provide Moldova with assistance to decontaminate lands which are polluted with oil products from the former Marculesti military airbase and to construct an aqueduct Prut-Nisporeni.
Two memorandums stipulating cooperation objectives and responsibilities between the Moldovan Ministry of Environment and the Czech Development Agency were signed by Minister Gheorghe Salaru and the director of the Czech Development Agency Michal Pastvinský in Chisinau on 29 April.
The first project provides for a survey to identify sources of contamination, the contaminated area, as well as the degree of pollution of the lands in the villages Lunga and Marculesti, Floresti district, northern Moldova. At the same time, the project provides for the elaboration and implementation of technologies for decontaminating these lands, as well as solutions to supply this area with water. The project will be implemented in Moldova in 2010 - 2012 with an overall budget of about 825,000 euros.
Another memorandum signed is focused on the implementation of a project on the construction of an aqueduct Prut-Nisporeni complementary to another complex project under implementation on the restoration of water supply systems in the Nisporeni town and the villages Varzaresti and Grozesti. The project's budget is about one million euros to be implemented in 2010 - 2012.
The signing of both memorandums confirms once again that Moldova remain one of priority countries benefiting from Czech development assistance. |
