MFAEI - Press Release - Today, April 13, 2009, Mr. Andrei Stratan, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, had a phone conversation with Mr. Karel Schwarzenberg, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, the country presently holding the Presidency of the European Union Council.
During the discussion there were tackled issues related to the situation in the Republic of Moldova after the Parliamentary elections of April 5. Mr. Andrei Stratan informed his Czech counterpart about the protest demonstrations which degenerated on April 7 in violent actions, resulting in the vandalising of the Presidency and the Parliament buildings of the Republic of Moldova. Also, the Moldovan official communicated to Minister Schwarzenberg the decision of the Constitutional Court to recount the votes of April 5 at the request of the CPRM. As well, Minister Stratan reiterated the importance of deepening the relations of the Republic of Moldova with the European Union, being taken into account the European aspirations of our country. In turn, the head of the Czech diplomacy reiterated that the agenda of the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic still holds making a visit to Chisinau. |
